Magic Hour is easy to budget for because its documentation spells out what a photo or a second of video costs. It also states plainly that prompts, uploads and outputs are never used to train its models, on free and paid accounts alike.

01Magic Hour overview

For photos, the free tier is hard to argue with. Per Magic Hour's product pages, checked 26 Oct 2026, anyone can make 5 photo swaps a day without signing up, group photos included, and the results carry no watermark. Video and GIF are tighter: 3 generations a day shared between them, a 10-second cap at 480p for video, GIF output up to 576p, and a watermark on both. Free results are also limited to personal, non-commercial use.

Paid use splits into two routes. Subscriptions run from Creator at US$19 a month, or US$12 a month billed yearly (about RM 49.01), up to Business at US$99, and they add higher resolutions: 720p and 1080p from Creator, 4K from Pro. Credit packs start at 4,000 credits for US$10, about RM 40.84, and never expire, which suits occasional jobs, but a pack on its own does not include plan features such as higher resolution or bigger uploads.

05Magic Hour privacy and uploads

The trust page says prompts, uploads and outputs are not used to train AI models, on free and paid accounts and through the API, with no opt-out to manage. Staff do not routinely review customer content, and it is not sold. Retention depends on the tool: some pages schedule uploads and unsaved results for deletion after one day, while inputs to saved projects are removed after 14 days. Our face swap safety guide covers what to check first.

06What Magic Hour credits buy in ringgit

The numbers are published, so you can work out the cost of a result before paying. Photo swaps take about 10 credits each at standard resolution, and the API documentation prices face swap video at 24 credits per second of 24fps output, with a multiplier for higher resolutions. Applied to the official packs at RM 4.0841 per US dollar:

  • Starter: 4,000 credits for US$10 (RM 40.84), about 400 photos or 166 seconds of base-resolution video
  • Standard: 12,000 credits for US$27 (RM 110.27), a little over 8 minutes of video
  • Large: 32,000 credits for US$64 (RM 261.38)
  • Max: 64,000 credits for US$120 (RM 490.09)

Creator subscribers receive 12,000 credits a month, Pro 25,000 and Business 70,000, and the help centre says unused credits roll over. Active subscribers can also claim 100 extra credits a day. If clips longer than a few seconds are the goal, our video face swap rankings set these numbers next to other services.

07Templates, group photos and GIFs

Besides the standard Magic Hour AI face swap, the site has separate tools for multi-face photos, multi-face video and multi-face GIFs, plus head swap and body swap. Group photos count toward the free daily allowance, which makes it a sensible first stop for a family portrait; the multiple face swap comparison covers tools with published face limits. GIF swaps share the video allowance, and the GIF face swap guide explains what to expect from looping clips.

There is also a template library built on film, TV and public-figure stills. Those are tempting for memes, yet swapping into a real person's portrait raises likeness questions, and the face swap pages ask users to hold rights to every face involved. Keep to your own face or people who have agreed to take part, and remember that published fakes of public figures are exactly what a deepfake detector is built to catch.

09Magic Hour FAQ

Is Magic Hour AI free?

Yes, for light use. Without an account you can make 5 photo face swaps a day with no watermark, plus 3 video or GIF generations shared between the two. Free video stops at 10 seconds and 480p and carries a watermark. Free results are licensed for personal, non-commercial use only, so client or shop work needs a paid option.

How much does Magic Hour cost in Malaysia?

At the BNM rate for 26 Oct 2026, Creator is about RM 77.60 a month, or RM 49.01 a month when paid yearly (RM 588.11 upfront). Pro is about RM 159.28 monthly or RM 102.10 a month on a yearly plan. For a handful of swaps, the 4,000-credit pack costs about RM 40.84 once and its credits never expire.

Can I use Magic Hour face swaps for business?

Not from the free tier, which is limited to personal use. The face swap pages say paid subscribers and credit-pack buyers may use outputs commercially. You still need rights to the source footage and to every face in it. Check the licence line for your plan at checkout before delivering client work or running the clip as an advert.

Does Magic Hour train on or keep my photos?

Training is ruled out: the trust page says prompts, uploads and outputs are never used to build its models, on any plan. Storage varies, with some tools deleting uploads after a day, while saved projects keep outputs until you delete them. Deleting the account opens a 14-day window to restore it, and individual files can be removed through support@magichour.ai.

Is there a Magic Hour mobile app?

The official step-by-step guide describes a browser workflow with nothing to download, and it runs on phones through the mobile browser. Some of the company's comparison articles also list iOS and Android availability, so check the developer name in the store before installing anything. Our face swap app guide covers dedicated phone apps.
